This procedure involves creating a small hole in the peripheral part of the iris to facilitate better drainage of intraocular fluid. By opening up the angle between the iris and cornea, the procedure helps improve fluid outflow, reduces the risk of extreme fluctuations in eye pressure, and prevents sudden increases in pressure that could lead to an acute angle-closure glaucoma attack.
